Any Drinkers Out There? More Help Needed!

As you know, I’m getting ready to launch Tight Spaces, Book #1 in the Double Dare series of Erotic Romances. These stories are all connected to the Double Dare Night Club in one way or another.   While you’re here, don’t forget to VOTE ON THE COVER!   Since the Double Dare figures so prominently in all the stories, I’d like to have a sort of signature drink for characters to order, to get thrown in a douchebag’s face, or to fall off a waiter’s tray right into some super-hot guy’s lap. I could include the recipe for this drink with promotional items for the series, and on the website, that sort of thing.   The problem is, I know VERY little about alcohol. *blushes* The extent of my drinking experience extends to a few shots of moonshine, and one ill-advised evening of Southern Comfort and coke, consumed on an empty stomach with … Continue reading

Kenra Daniels’ #SixSunday – Yet Another Title?

This week’s Six Sunday is from the same Erotic Romance Novella the last couple have been from. Now, last week, the plan was that this story’s title would be “Dare To Stare”. Since then, during edits, the focus of the story has changed, and the entire concept evolved. This story has become the foundation of a series of contemporary Erotic Romances. The series, titled The Double Dare Club, is based on the nightclub introduced in this story, the Double Dare. For the series, all the couples will be connected in some way to the Double Dare – one might work there, they might meet there, or meet in a fender-bender in the street out front. Because of the change in focus for the current story, “Dare To Stare” no longer fits as the title. The new title, referring to the smex-in-the-closet scene, and other incidents, is Tight Spaces. The following … Continue reading

Love Scenes & Wet Dreams & Other Things

Recently, my friends and critique partners, Azure Boone and Jennifer James, and I decided to to start a group blog. The general idea was for it to be a place where we could jointly promote our work, talk about things important to us, things we find funny, and just generally be a little silly. And so, the idea for Love Scenes & Wet Dreams, a.k.a. LSWD, was born. We have several ideas for the blog, some of which will take a while to implement. For now, we’ll all incredibly busy, between writing and raising our families, and we don’t have as much time to devote to it as we’d like. So, we’re concentrating on the basics, getting everything situated the way we’d like and building content. When we have time to catch our breath, we’ll switch up the focus to getting some different things going. Right now, Azure has up a … Continue reading

Brats, B!tches, and Barbies

*First, I’d like to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and positive energy as my family dealt with the loss of Reno, my much-loved step-dad. With your help, we made it through and managed to celebrate his life and rejoice that he doesn’t have to suffer any longer. The funeral was one of the largest our little town had ever seen, and there were 20+ classic cars in the procession. The only blemish on the day was my step-brother’s ex-wife. In her blatant gold digging, she cozied right up to SB, despite having called Reno everything but a milk-cow only a few weeks ago. Everyone knew she was only being nice to SB in order to get “her share” of his inheritance. Everyone except SB, that is. Oh, well. There are a few surprises coming her way, and she won’t be a happy camper when it’s all said and done.* … Continue reading

Don’t Let the Door Hit You On the Ass

That’s what we say here when we’re beyond ready for guests to leave. Of course, not many say it to the guests’ faces. Every year or two, I hear of people within the publishing industry who say Paranormal Romance is on the decline, or on the way out. Sometimes, the tone accompanying the pronouncement seems to say “… And don’t the let door hit you on the ass on the way out.” In certain circles, Paranormal Romance is considered less desirable reading than the back of the cereal box, and that’s usually where the above-mentioned tone comes from. But occasionally, I get that impression from some within the Romance family, as well. As an avid PNR reader for 20+ years, I’ve sometimes observed a corresponding slump in the number of new Paranormal Romances being released. The first few times I heard the prediction and saw fewer new releases at the … Continue reading

Crawling From Under The Rock…

Uh… Hi? Remember me? Yeah, I’m that Kenra Daniels. While I’ve been under my rock, the world has continued to turn. Shocking, I know, but true. I’ve come out for a breath of fresh air, and to share some news with you. You might remember I’ve spoken of my fantastic Critique Partner, and Bestie, Azure Boone? Weelllll…. Her book, Devil Wants A China Doll,  has just been contracted for publication by Loose Id Publishing!!!! They’re shooting for an August 2012 release date. I’m telling you, guys, you really MUST read this book!! Azure is a phenomenal writer, and the story is fascinating. The Hero, Roan Kreed, is deliciously hot, and troubled, and a little bit bad… All ingredients for the kind of Romance Novel Hero you’d love to… yeah. Another wonderful friend and CP, Jennifer James, has announced that her novella, Love Kinection, has been picked up by Decadent Publishing!!!! (I”m a little … Continue reading

A Progress Report, Of Sorts…

First, I have to apologize. I haven’t posted here in far too long… For several reasons. Between power outages and internet service interruptions, one of the grandsons ill and whiny, and a bunch of other personal crap, I’ve barely had time to sit, let alone write or blog. And this evening I received word that my step-dad, Reno, is in the hospital with a bowel obstruction. His doctor thinks it’s rather minor and will be dealt with quite easily. The only concern is that he has  several other serious health issues. Hopefully none of those will interfere, or be made worse by the current problem. With all that going on, I *still* haven’t managed to complete revisions for Blood Dragon so it can get on its way. Right now, after family, that has to be my top priority. So, until it’s done, this blog will go dark, along with my social … Continue reading

Sorta Spotlight, First Five, Plus Some Temporary Changes

In Lieu of this week’s Spotlight: First a few notes: These days, it seems the more I accomplish, the further behind I get! In an effort to buckle down and get the priorities taken care of. Thanks to #writemotivation, I’ve had to plan how best to meet my goals, and that’s what this is.  Right now, getting Blood Dragon out on submission is my highest priority professionally. I need to hit it hard until it’s perfect, and get it out there. To that end, some of my posts here will be recycled content from months ago. I posted these back when my blog went several days at a time with no visits, so they should be fresh to you. I’ll still be posting new content as well, just not as much. In April, I’ll be celebrating my first Blogaversary! Gonna try to do something special to celebrate, but I haven’t decided … Continue reading

A Heroine Worth Saving?

A few weeks ago, in A Hero To Die For, I talked about the things that go into good Heroes. While I focused on the Romance, or Paranormal Romance, novel Hero, many of those characteristics will fit the protagonist for any genre. I’d intended to talk about the Heroine the following week, but ended up with Who IS This? Making Minor Characters Useful instead. Then life intervened and I’m just now getting back to the series. This week, continuing to discuss character development for Nailing Down the Essentials, we finally get a close look at the Heroine. Please Press DELETE Yes, I’m aware the post title implies that the Heroine needs the Hero to save her. No, that isn’t what I mean. I’m referring to Saving, as in not Deleting. Because, let’s face it, we’ve all read Romance Heroines who should have been Deleted! Of course, we can also infer … Continue reading
