Life’s Little PMS Moments

This little gem is from a friend, Romance Author Kate Worth’s Blog. I know you’ll enjoy it as much as I did! Read the next two sentences in the voice of Andy Rooney. I don’t know why, but it’s just more fun. I’ve read countless romance novels over the years, but I don’t remember ever reading one that featured a PMS moment.  Why is that? There are plenty of delicate mentions of women’s “courses” in romantic fiction, but never any discussion of those dicey, emotionally fraught days leading up to her “monthlies”.  Granted, there isn’t much romantic about PMS, but the symptoms could provide some funny or suspenseful plot devices. Jim Carrey’s classic SNL skit about a PMS Hotline illustrates this.  It’s one of my all-time favorites. Here’s a video link: Apparently PMS is also a fact of life for insects. I snapped this shot of a Praying Mantis casually dismembering … Continue reading

The Myth Of Multiples (Orgasms, That Is)

*WARNING: The following post is a frank discussion of sexual practices and situations some might find offensive. If you are under 18, or find such discussions objectionable, please explore my other posts and pages.* That’s that, so let’s get on with the important stuff, m’kay? One of the big pet peeves that both readers and writers seem to have with romance novels is lack of realism in matters pertaining to orgasms. If I had a nickel for every time I’ve read a comment someone left regarding the implausibility of multiple orgasms for both Hero and Heroine, well… You know the rest of the line. So, that got me thinking… Yes, thank you, I’m well aware of the hazards associated with that activity! Are multiple orgasms impossible? For just males? Or for both males and females? (See that? I’m pretending I don’t already know the answer :D) Many people, of both … Continue reading

Your Guide To Sex With… #1

Welcome to a new Hit Or Miss Series(TM)! So, what the hell is a Hit Or Miss Series(TM)? I’m glad you asked. A Hit Or Miss Series(TM) is a series of posts on whatever random subject strikes my imagination. No particular schedule. No particular format. So, for the Your Guide To Sex With… Hit Or Miss Series(TM) {Hey, now, I’m pretending to be precious with the little (TM) symbol! Don’t laugh!} For the first Your Guide To Sex With… post, I thought about staying close to home, and talking about what would happen if a human had sex with a weredragon. But, there are some SOOPER SEKRIT S’PRIZEZ involved with that, so I’m holding it until Blood Dragon I is published. That way, I won’t ruin the first time for you. With weredragons out of the running, then, I think I’ll go with The Vampire. So here it is Your Guide To Sex With… … Continue reading

Sorta Spotlight, First Five, Plus Some Temporary Changes

In Lieu of this week’s Spotlight: First a few notes: These days, it seems the more I accomplish, the further behind I get! In an effort to buckle down and get the priorities taken care of. Thanks to #writemotivation, I’ve had to plan how best to meet my goals, and that’s what this is.  Right now, getting Blood Dragon out on submission is my highest priority professionally. I need to hit it hard until it’s perfect, and get it out there. To that end, some of my posts here will be recycled content from months ago. I posted these back when my blog went several days at a time with no visits, so they should be fresh to you. I’ll still be posting new content as well, just not as much. In April, I’ll be celebrating my first Blogaversary! Gonna try to do something special to celebrate, but I haven’t decided … Continue reading

A Heroine Worth Saving?

A few weeks ago, in A Hero To Die For, I talked about the things that go into good Heroes. While I focused on the Romance, or Paranormal Romance, novel Hero, many of those characteristics will fit the protagonist for any genre. I’d intended to talk about the Heroine the following week, but ended up with Who IS This? Making Minor Characters Useful instead. Then life intervened and I’m just now getting back to the series. This week, continuing to discuss character development for Nailing Down the Essentials, we finally get a close look at the Heroine. Please Press DELETE Yes, I’m aware the post title implies that the Heroine needs the Hero to save her. No, that isn’t what I mean. I’m referring to Saving, as in not Deleting. Because, let’s face it, we’ve all read Romance Heroines who should have been Deleted! Of course, we can also infer … Continue reading

  • Just Sayin’

I'm a Romance Author - mainly Paranormal, but nearly all with fairly graphic intimate scenes. Those scenes serve to further the development of my plots and characters and are not included haphazardly to sell books or arouse readers.

I probably COULD tell the stories without the graphic parts, but I CHOOSE not to. I want to show the full scope of the developing relationship, and leaving out some of the most powerful and meaningful moments will deprive the reader of a measure of understanding and emotional reaction to the characters and their stories.

Since I write books intended for adult readers, I often have material on my website that is entirely unsuitable for younger readers. If you're under 18, or if you're easily offended by open discussion of sexual situations with frank language, you might want to look the other direction.
