Long Time, No See

It’s been a HORRIBLY long time since I’ve blogged! Apologies, for more than one reason, are in order. First, I missed the posts for the last week of my Tight Spaces Kick Off Blog Tour, including the finale to announce the winners of the giveaway! I have good reasons, I promise. (FYI, the finale post will go up in a few days, within a week.) Second, I owe the members of my blogging network extreme apologies, since I haven’t been active there either. As a consequence, I haven’t Tweeted the announcements for their blog posts. Sorry, guys! I PROMISE, I’m getting back to it! Third, I’m sorry, Azure! As you know, Azure Boone, BFF and Crit Partner, and I are working on a joint project that will seriously rock your world. The first book of our Paranormal Romance series, “Archangel’s Creed, The Summoning I, Kassern” is moving fast and we … Continue reading

Blogs Are Lovely Things, Aren’t They?

Imagine my surprise when, the other day, I get a comment on my post Kenra Daniels’ #SixSunday – Yet Another Title announcing that I’ve been tagged with the Lovely Blog Award! Many thanks to Sunni Morris at Surviving Life for my very first Blog Award!   What is the Lovely Blog Award? Rules for the Lovely Blog award are to thank the blogger who nominated you, give seven facts about yourself, post the blog award badge on your site, and nominate 11 noteworthy blogs, notifying them you did so.  So, here we go: 1. An Invitation Just For You!

The other day, in the process of updating one social media thingie, I was prompted for a Google Plus Page. Well, I didn’t have one, or know much about them. So I did a little research, thought about it, decided to give it a go, and set one up. Announcing! A Progress Report, Of Sorts…

First, I have to apologize. I haven’t posted here in far too long… For several reasons. Between power outages and internet service interruptions, one of the grandsons ill and whiny, and a bunch of other personal crap, I’ve barely had time to sit, let alone write or blog. And this evening I received word that my step-dad, Reno, is in the hospital with a bowel obstruction. His doctor thinks it’s rather minor and will be dealt with quite easily. The only concern is that he has  several other serious health issues. Hopefully none of those will interfere, or be made worse by the current problem. With all that going on, I *still* haven’t managed to complete revisions for Blood Dragon so it can get on its way. Right now, after family, that has to be my top priority. So, until it’s done, this blog will go dark, along with my social … Continue reading

Sorta Spotlight, First Five, Plus Some Temporary Changes

In Lieu of this week’s Spotlight: First a few notes: These days, it seems the more I accomplish, the further behind I get! In an effort to buckle down and get the priorities taken care of. Thanks to #writemotivation, I’ve had to plan how best to meet my goals, and that’s what this is.  Right now, getting Blood Dragon out on submission is my highest priority professionally. I need to hit it hard until it’s perfect, and get it out there. To that end, some of my posts here will be recycled content from months ago. I posted these back when my blog went several days at a time with no visits, so they should be fresh to you. I’ll still be posting new content as well, just not as much. In April, I’ll be celebrating my first Blogaversary! Gonna try to do something special to celebrate, but I haven’t decided … Continue reading

Makeover Update and Early #writemotivation

First, the Makeover Update: Roughly 3 weeks ago, I began a major makeover  of my blog. I moved from WordPress.com to a self-hosted WordPress site. My first post about the process covered choosing a hosting service and actually moving everything. Since then, I’ve tried out several free themes, searching for one with the capabilities I wanted: a custom header, custom background (though I could live without this one), sidebars and widget areas, dark color scheme, and multiple pages were the big ones. I found that many free themes don’t support custom headers – at least the ones I found. One I tried limited the header to half the width of the page, others put the site title and description across the header in a way that was difficult to read for mine. One was very near what I had on the WordPress.com blog, and I happily installed and started to … Continue reading

So Long, Flowers… I’ll Miss You!

We lived in Army quarters for years. For someone who grew up in a very rural area, living in such close proximity to other people presented some problems. I finally became accustomed to the noise and lights at night, people coming and going at all hours. What I didn’t get used to was being unable to grow plants outside. Well, I could have a couple of window boxes, or a few annuals along the sidewalk. But I missed the big vegetable gardens and extensive flower beds I’d grown up with. See, my family has lived right here in this area since the late 18th century. They’ve always farmed, and I used to visit with my grandmother during summers on the farm originally settled by Laban and Jane when they came here from Maryland. As a kid, I worked the fields right alongside my parents, and learned to appreciate, even depend on, … Continue reading
