The Devil Wants A China Doll!
We’re here to celebrate what makes Romance Heroes soooooo damn HOT! One of the hottest is my BFF / CP Azure Boone‘s Rone Kreed, from her new release The Devil Wants A China Doll, just out from Loose Id Publishing.
Rone has resigned himself to a life without love, since he realized the Demon that lives within him can use him to claim women’s souls. Then he meets Sheeku and falls desperately in love. He’ll go to ANY length to protect Sheeku from the demon, even if it means he can never have her.
Now, just to look at, former Marine Rone is pretty hot, even with the scars marking up his chest from the ceremony that put the demon in him. He’s kind of ashamed of his mismatched eyes, because of some bullshit line the Coven beat into his head about them being evil.
He’s a little rough around the edges, as you’d expect from a man who earned the nickname “Reaper” by slicing and dicing a whole truckload of the enemy during the War, after the rest of his squad was decimated in ambush. He vents his sociopathic tendencies by tapping into the demon’s rage and putting the Beat Down on poor, innocent, would-be rapists.
When Rone meets Sheeku, he’s launched headlong into the unknown. He’s terrified to get to know her better because the only girl he ever got physical with ended up literally fucking herself to death because of the demon’s contamination.
Rone’s efforts to protect Sheeku from himself make him rank up there with Vishous (from JR Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series) in Hottness.
What makes a Hot Hero, for me, is the guy who will do what it takes. He’ll kill to keep his woman safe. He’s okay with her doing her share of the killing, too. He (eventually) trusts her with his heart and soul, revealing those secret weaknesses that could bring him down. When she trusts him that way, he treats it as the special gift it is, protects it with his entire being, and never uses it as a weapon against her. He’ll put his love for her, and hers for him, above everything else (except his children). He’ll put the time, work, and commitment, into building something real with her.
And if it comes right down to it, he’ll stay away, deny himself the fulfillment of her love, if that’s what it takes to keep her safe. Now, I’m not talking about the kind of safe he can ensure by keeping jealous exes away, not letting her get run over by a bus, etc. I mean the kind of safe that keeps her body and soul intact.
That’s the choice Rone has to make. Love Sheeku. Keep her soul out of Hell. Eeeny Meeny Miny Moe…

A hero is hot when he’s got that tender heart on the inside (the one where it’s completely obvious to everyone but him that he’s in love and wants to be loved in return) but on the outside he’s Alpha and strong, kind of a bad ass attitude sort-of look.
