Recently, my friends and critique partners, Azure Boone and Jennifer James, and I decided to to start a group blog. The general idea was for it to be a place where we could jointly promote our work, talk about things important to us, things we find funny, and just generally be a little silly. And so, the idea for Love Scenes & Wet Dreams, a.k.a. LSWD, was born.
We have several ideas for the blog, some of which will take a while to implement. For now, we’ll all incredibly busy, between writing and raising our families, and we don’t have as much time to devote to it as we’d like. So, we’re concentrating on the basics, getting everything situated the way we’d like and building content. When we have time to catch our breath, we’ll switch up the focus to getting some different things going.
Right now, Azure has up a great post about men and sensuality, and pooches getting tummy scratches. Don’t ask. Just go check it out. I promise you won’t be disappointed!
So, that covers the Loves Scenes & Wet Dreams, at least in part. Let’s get on to the Other Things.
At last, Blood Dragon: Safe Heart is finished! Actually, it went to an editor for consideration about two weeks ago. I love the revisions I made – they really raised the stakes for the characters and increased the action. Here’s hoping the editor loves it as much as I do!
The same day Safe Heart went out, I jumped headlong into expanding a contemporary erotic romance short story into a novella. I originally wrote it as an exercise in squeezing every drop of heat from a sex scene, so it’s only a short lead up to the main event. I’m writing an actual story around it and planning to get it out on submission in a few weeks.
At the same time, I have a couple of scorching chapters originally written for the beginning of Safe Heart. The book ended up needing a different beginning, so those chapters were cut, and just sitting on my hard drive, waiting for another story to come along for them. I’m revising and expanding them, building a new story around them, for another contemporary erotic romance novella.
And work is still creeping forward on the second Blood Dragon book. Once the novellas are out and moving, a few more weeks will see it finished, with luck. The new creature is nearly ready for its foundation story to be outlined, but the damn thing STILL doesn’t have a NAME! So while I’m working on all this other stuff, I’m also puttering around with it.
Now that I’m raising the 3 grandsons, (the eldest will be 4 in a few days) everything revolves around their schedule. For the summer, we’re swimming, building and creating, tearing down and counting, and hopefully, napping. And when they’re quiet, all the chores finished, the playing all done, I’ll write.
